Wonderful Waiheke
Commercial description
With our Chardonnay we give a maceration of the whole bunches before pressing which increases the amount of grape solids in the juice to give greater intensity of varietal character and structure. Once fermentation is finished we add small amounts of sulphur at each topping to preserve the freshness and fruitfulness of the wine. We do not stir the lees or allow the wine to go through malolactic fermentation.
Man O? War Chardonnay exhibits intense ripe stone fruit characters with subtle hints passionfruit seed and a nutty lees influence.
Made from a blend of 60% Waiheke and 40% Gisborne Chardonnay grapes, this wine is perfectly balanced with a delicious long finish highlighting the almost 12 months the wine has spent in barrel.
Rich and concentrated with nectarine, lime and passion-fruit with toasty vanilla slight, buttery element and butterscotch undertones.
Only produced in the best years, this Reserve Syrah is Passage Rock's showcase wine.
Rich ripe aromas of dark forest fruit and spice, coffee and vanilla on the nose lead to a dark garnet intensity in the glass. On the palate, toasted nuts and spices vie with dark berries, integrated ripe tannins and lacy acidity. Cellar it for 10 to 15 years
Passage Rock Syrah is made from grapes sourced from Waiheke Island's oldest vines. It has a rich bouquet of black currant, dark plums, blackberry and peppery spices, with core fruit flavours that reflect the bouquet. The palate is textural and perfectly balanced. Enjoy over the next five to 10 years

Commercial description
Bordering the old Waiheke Air Strip this vineyard produces world-class Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot.
Planted when their children were barely walking, John and Paul Dunleavy?s vines have matured over two decades and, like their children, bring their own unique character to this wine.
Aged in barrels for 10 months, but made in a forward, fruit driven style to be enjoyed in youth, The Strip will continue to improve over time with careful cellaring.
A small and high quality winery on Waiheke Island with a 3.5 hectare vineyard which is home to the delicious dark Syrah grapes in this impressive red with its smooth texture and layers of spicy complexity. Flavours are held together in a powerful wine that drinks well now and has the structure to age well for at least five to six years.
?Rich, intense, almost luscious syrah with ripe blackberry, cassis, vanilla, pepper, spice, anise and classy oak flavours. A concentrated wine that keeps revealing different nuances of flavour on its lingering finish. Should develop well with bottle age.? ? Bob Campbell MW
?The beautiful 2013 vintage was estate-grown in The 8 Vineyard and matured for 16 months in French oak barriques (60 per cent new). Set to flourish for a decade, it is finely scented and deeply coloured, with substantial body, dense, ripe blackcurrant, plum and spice flavours, a hint of licorice, very fine-grained tannins, and lovely richness and harmony.? ? Michael Cooper
?100% Waiheke coastal single site ?The 8 Vineyard?. Hand-tended vines, tiny crop yields and a masterful combination of 6x ?class A? syrah clones, combine to produce a rich, elegant and complex wine that proudly expresses this unique and spiritual piece of earth. 16 months in 75% new French barriques. Unfined and minimally filtered. Cellar at 13-15 ?C. Drink: 2018 ? 2028? ? Winemaker?s notes
Powerful deeply flavoured, bold Bordeaux blend of eights grape varieties grown on the steep warm slopes of Luc Desbonnets 8 Vineyard above the bright and warm tidal water of the Okahuiti Creek estuary. This wine is a tribute to his Grandmother Marthe, the 13th child of her family, and her son, my father Patrick, born 13 December, his lucky number. Harmonious and complex wine with great length and fine grainy tannins. Unfined and minimally filtered.
The Island Blend is typically 53% Cabernet Franc, 27% Merlot, 12% Petit Verdot and 8% Malbec sourced from both Waiheke and Ponui Island.
This is a rich, ripe wine with sweet red berry fruit framed by chocolate and spice. The palate is softly textured with fine ripe tannins making for a decadent expression of a Cabernet franc dominated Bordeaux blend. This wine is drinking beautifully on release and will be ideal with a summer barbeque or a winter roast.
Gorgeous dark spicy Syrah with mana and a long track record from 15 year old vines grown on the Kindy Block on Waiheke Island; part of the original Goldwater Estate Vineyard.
This superb full bodied Syrah is now made by winemaker Kelly Washington, who uses 85% destemmed grapes with 15% whole bunches in the ferment to lift aromatic appeal and enhance softness. Wild yeast fermentation started the winemaking and the juice was then innoculated with a Syrah yeast strain. It's aged for 12 months in a mix of French oak barrels and a puncheon, 21% of the oak is new with the balance being neutral and second fill barrels with a medium toast to allow the fruit to shine rather than the oak.
Fleshy, concentrated black fruit comes to the fore on the palate of this lively wine, which is supported by savoury, spicy notes, firm tannins and bright acidity.
This wine is in conversion to BioGro organic.
A full bodied powerfully creamy Chardonnay to woo white wine lovers with its depths and richness, held together with citrusy balance and aromas.
The Batch Winery encapsulates the philosophy of most Waiheke Island winemakers to produce small volumes of high quality wines from the most famous island in the Hauraki Gulf.
Man O? War Estate Pinot Gris is made from grapes grown on Waiheke Island and sometimes includes a portion of grapes from the smaller Ponui Island, which are transported by barge. The warm climate of both islands coupled with the high sunshine hours and coastal breezes provides ripe grapes with flavours of pear, ripe apples and, often, a touch of honey from botrytis. This wine is full bodied, off dry and fleshy with a soft structure, making it smooth and enjoyable as a youthful wine.
