The 4th release in the Greedy Angels series, showing that Amrut can do as a 10 Year-Old whisky. A rich, smoky Indian single malt whisky matured for 10 years and finished in an exrum cask, before being bottled in October 2019. Smoky peat and woody spice notes lead to sweet spice and marmalade, moving into cherry, cocoa and sweet vanilla. The palate shows sweet butterscotch, citrus and tropical fruits, followed by camphor, soft smoke and rumsoaked raisins.
Each decanter comes complete with a decadent presentation box as well as a rather weighty glass stopper. Only 450 bottles produced
Amrut Distilleries recently launched an umbrella brand, the Single Malts of India, to showcase the hidden gem malts of India. Neidhal is described as a single malt eponymously sourced from a Neidhal or coastal region and is said to exhibit traits that uniquely spring from the locale.
Tasting notes make mention of tropical fruits, vanilla punctuated by soft phenols and above all sea salt on the nose. On the palate, it is fruit cocktail and mesmerising phenols with a touch of iodine. The middle ground is an essay in chewability and a finish that is phenolic with a touch of sweet vanilla.

AMRUT Portonova is an unpeated single malt whisky matured initially in a combination of new American Oak and ex-bourbon barrels then transferred to once-used port pipes, imported from Portugal and finally back to ex-bourbon casks. It is aptly named as Portonova as there is a town called Parangipettai (Portonovo) on the east coast of India, in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, a territory that was under Portuguese control from the 16th to the 18th century.
This single malt is exotic and vibrant on both nose and the palate and it delivers plentiful of raisins, vanilla, cherry liqueur and spices. The effect is the extraordinary smoothness on the palate even at full cask strength.
Nose : A Thick pudding of a nose; fruit and caramel have merged into one slightly over-oaked soup; burnt apple pie;
Taste : This is essentially a port pipe sandwich.... and it shows. The spicy, jammy fruit is interwoven through any amount of caramel while the oaky saltiness gets the taste buds both salivating and puckering until you run dry;
Finish : Long, massive oak with quite evident traces of the virgin barrels now detectable. And more of a cocoa hue as it progresses. At last some muscovado sugars arrive to supplant the berry fruits;
Amrut Spectrum 004, a Single Malt Whisky by Amrut aged in a special cask made of 4 different Oaks.
Riding on the wave of the Spectrum 005 (launched in 2016), one of the most sought after brands in the Single Malt world, Amrut is delighted to announce the launch of the Spectrum 004, a whisky aged yet again in a custom built barrel. The 'Spectrum' series is one of a kind in the world, an unparalleled innovation using a barrel that is made not using one kind of oak staves but four different types.
To make the Spectrum 004, a two part maturation technique has been employed, the first being maturation of New Make spirit in ex-Bourbon casks followed by transferring the aged spirit into the custom barrels. The custom barrels are made with 4 different kinds of staves , new American Oak with Char level 3, new French Oak with light toasting, ex-Olorosso staves and ex-PX Sherry staves. The aforementioned barrel has equal proportions of all four kinds of staves arranged in a one-after-the-other manner lending their own characteristics and complexities to the malt coming into its own on the nose and the palate.
It begins its maturation in bourbon barrels, before being finished in cask made with four types of oak - Oloroso Sherry oak staves, Pedro Ximenez Sherry oak staves, new French oak and new American oak.Tasting Spectrum 004 is jammy and syrupy affair, and you?ll experience a cloud of mild spice dust that is quite lovely. The dust is enveloped by vanilla pudding and a creamy texture and there are juicy sultanas with an aromatic mask joined by the mildest hint of phenol and a perfect degree of wood tone. To finish, the whisky is brilliantly refreshing with a minty shade, ending with a sweet tone.
Delicious complex champagne with great depth and super fresh flavours; amazing value for money. Andr? Clouet Grand Reserve is aged on lees for four years before disgorgement. It's made from 100% Pinot Noir, which is where all its rich, deliciously toasty aromas come from and the style is a complex blend of wine from the 2015 vintage with depth of flavour coming from the 50% proportion of older reserve wines from 2014, 2013, 2012, 2008, 2005, 2004 and 2002.
The dosage is 8 grams per litre, which makes it dry in taste and in style.
This wine offers substantially more flavour than most champagnes at this price on the market today - and kicks many more expensive bubbles to touch too.
Champagne Andr? Clouet dates back to 1741. Today the family owns eight hectares of estate vines in the best middle slopes of Bouzy and Ambonnay in the Champagne region from which it makes (along with purchased grapes) great wines of richness and depth. Andr? Clouet Grand Reserve is one of our staff faves here at Regional and is made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes, all grown on grand cru vineyards and aged on lees for four years before disgorgement. That is significantly longer than the legal minimum of 18 months aging on lees, pre release, in the Champagne region.
This long aging time provides great depth and complex flavours to this deliciously flavoursome non vintage champagne. It offers incredible taste and richness.
* The Andr? Clouet Grande Reserve is also available in half bottles.
If you?re after a complex champagne made from the great Pinot Noir grape, try this.
Angel?s Envy is an exceptional Kentucky straight bourbon finished in port wine barrels. Given the Highest Recommendation by Spirit Journal, celebrated by Whisky Advocate, The Bourbon Review, and awarded Wine Enthusiast?s highest bourbon rating, Angel?s Envy is unlike any other whiskey you?ve ever tasted.
Possibly the most popular brand of bitters, Angostura should be considered a must when stocking a bar of any seriousness. Made with a secret blend of tropical herbs and plants with the original intent of curing a variety of illnesses. The brand is now produced in Trinidad and the blend is still a well-kept secret. The oversized, awkward label has also become a trademark of the brand. It's said that the wrong size was ordered and everyone in the facility thought someone else would fix the mistake, no one did and the label remains.
Argentina does Malbec better than anyone on a mass scale, much of it due to the plentiful vineyards planted at altitude in the foothills of the Andes Mountains where sunshine enhances ripening and cool night temperatures elongate the ripening season to accentuate much needed acidity in this grape. These factors combine to provide growing conditions that are unmatched anywhere else in the world that Malbec is planted on a large scale. Wines like this one are testament to the dense fruit character, spicy notes and complexity of good Malbec, often at a relatively modest price.
We love this wine and it also carries organic certification, another thing the dry climate in Argentina allows for with relative ease, but that's another story.
If you love big reds, try this one out for size.
This 500ml bottle of honeyed sweet Riesling deliciousness captures the beauty of sweet Riesling at its best. Flavours run from concentrated lemon curd to honeyed lime juice with sweet peach aromas and all supported by the beautiful balance of high acidity, which gives Riesling its trademark freshness.
Serve lightly chilled. This wine begs for a lemon tart.
It is a stunningly concentrated, complex sweet wine for drinking now and can age for the long haul too. This wine is a keeper.
Spatlese means late harvest in German and this sweet Riesling is an outrageously, deliciously concentrated example of a great sweet wine with complex layers of flavour from the Mosel Valley - the world's headquarters for Riesling.
Gorgeously intense lemon curd aromas combined with white peach flavours and a medium bodied style. Youthful now, it drinks deliciously well now and will age superbly for up to a decade, potentially longer in cool dark ageing conditions.
The nose is of medium-body with notes of soft peat smoke and a rooty character. There are herbal notes with a cut hay character, there are hints of winter berries. The palate is quite well-rounded and full, there are notes of cut hay and honey, caramel and a touch of dry oak, a little fruit note develops. The finish is long and smooth.
