The 2020 Langhe Nebbiolo Perbacco is another fantastic starting point wine from one of Piemonte's top producers, the family owned company, Vietti.
In this vintage, the Perbacco is especially good quality with flavours of dried cherry, herbs, mint, crushed flowers, anise and orange peel grace this striking, alluring Nebbiolo. There is enormous depth in this wine and, as with many earlier vintages, the Perbacco overdelivers, big time.

A very special Barolo from a great producer and an exceptional year, 2016, the vintage of the decade, if early tastings are anything to go by and we think they are. The 2016 vintage in most classic European wine regions has made top notch reds with the power, structure and beauty to drink gorgeously well now and age for at least a decade.
This incredibly full bodied, powerfully dry Nebbiolo spent 30 months in large format Slovonian oak after old school fermentation in oak. That's a whopping amount of time by any stretch, but it sits well in this wine.

Barbera is the red workhorse grape of Piemonte but it is equally capable of greatness, as this complex, earthy wine shows with aromas of fresh forest floor; this tastes like walking through a beautiful forest track feels, with dappled sunlight adding warmth to the journey...

?The Cavallotto 2018 Barolo Bricco Boschis (a certified organic wine) is a lovely expression with fruit from one of the most beautiful sites in Castiglione Falletto, measuring 7.3 hectares. The wine is streamlined and tight with forest berry, blackcurrant and spice. It is taut and silky, showing fruit that has been shaped by cool nights and warm days. Bricco Boschis always delivers a special sense of sharpness and focus. Production is 23,747 bottles.?

Produttori del Barbaresco was founded in 1958 and now has 51 members who collectively own approximately 100 hectares of the entire appellation (itself nearly 700 hectares). This wine is a blend from various vineyards in the Barbaresco DOCG's limestone and clay soils, which are rich in calcium with sandy veins.

A special wine from a top producer of Nebbiolo. This is a rare wine, a Riserva multi vineyard blend of a selection of the best vineyards from Produttori del Barbaresco, one of the top producers in the small Barbaresco DOCG appellation in Piemonte.
The 2016 vintage was the year of the century so far and leant its high quality grapes to a riserva expression of the multi vineyard blend. This means it has been aged for longer than usual. It is only the second time a Riserva blend has been produced. The first was in 1990
One of our favourite Italian white grape varieties here at Regional Wines and definitely one of the world's least well known whites. - Timorasso. This Italian white variety comes from the tiny hillside appellation of Colli Tortonesi DOC in Piemonte.
The grapes in this wine were grown on vineyards located in Monleale in the Alessandria Province, which has a south east and south west exposure and clay limestone soils..
This dry white has high acidity with a medium to full body and white floral notes with flavours of peach, nectarine and a nutty taste on the finish. It drinks well now but definitely has the potential to age.
Winemakers Elena and Luca Currado Vietti fell in love with Timorasso when they first tasted it in the 1990s and have now joined the ranks of producers of this grape, which they describe as a thoroughbred varietal.
Timorasso...
Timorasso can be traced back to the Middle Ages and is a vigorous grape in terms of growth. It was nearly extinct after the European phylloxera epidemic of the late 1800s and has slowly been revived so there is now a total of 110 hectares, of which Vietti has 7.1 hectares.
Its production is centred around the town of Tortona, known in Roman times as Derthona, hence the name on the label.
