Enter a fabulous new favourite in store at Regions - Big Sky's take on the chillable red wine theme, bottled in perfect time for summer. Pinot Nouveau is a juicy, deep pink, youthful style of wine made from 100% Pinot Noir in a drink-me-now fashion to be served lightly chilled in a big glass on a warm evening - or a chilly one.
Flavours of toasted sesame add complexity to the finish.
Big Sky Wines takes its evocative name from the vast, star studded skies on Te Muna Road, Martinborough. This winery is owned by Jeremy Corban (yes, of the famous Corban winemaking family) and Katherine Jacobs.
Provenance is the name of the top Pinot Noir from Big Sky, one of the most spectacularly beautiful wineries in Martinborough. This wine is a stunning expression of New Zealand Pinot Noir at its best; savoury, full bodied and over flowing with gorgeous ripe dark fruit flavours underpinned by firm tannins giving the wine structure and a commanding presence in the glass.
This is a wine to drink now and cellar into the future.
The Big Sky story
Jeremy Corban and Katherine Jacobs founded Big Sky Wines in the Te Muna Valley, Martinborough, in 2005. They have since expanded their small vineyard, which is predominantly planted in Pinot Noir and also has a little Sauvignon Blanc, which they give extra textural complexity to with a little time in old oak on lees.

Gamey, savoury, deliciously refreshing Pinot Noir from Martinborough's next new big thing - Te Muna Valley, a dramatically majestic sub region for grapes that is situated 9 kilometres east of Martinborough village.
Big Sky Wines is on the high alluvial terraces of Martinborough's Huangarua River at Te Muna, 9 kilometres east of the village. Low yielding deep gravels, hot days and cool nights result in wines that are deep and complex. This is their flagship wine from a low vigour, low cropping vineyard. Hand picked, crushed into two tonne open fermenters with 10% whole bunch fermentation and minimal crushing and with wild fermentation followed by 12 months in French oak, 12.5% of which was new. And therein lies the beauty of this insanely delicious Pinot Noir with its ripe berry fruit flavours of dark cherries and plums, balanced by mouth filling savouriness, warm spice, and silky tannins.

Founder Dave Clouston and winemaker Sanna Stander are the driving force behind Black Cottage producing wines with fruit from Central Otago
This Otago Pinot Noir is purple-red in colour, with a nose of lifted christmas cake and glazed cherry, overlaid on violets and spice. The palate is full of dark fruit flavours that fade to savoury notes. Soft acidity and round tannins contribute to a glossy mouth feel and a smooth finish. This wine will improve for several years with careful cellaring.
A steep vineyard in Omihi that was established in 1999 has now been renamed as Damsteep (aptly enough) and is home to the grapes that find their way into this pretty aromatic Pinot Noir with its smooth and savoury flavours of fruity red berries, wrapped in firmly structured earthy notes and a lingering, silky finish. This is a great drink now from a very good vintage for quality and it will age well for up to five years, possibly longer. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulphur.
This Black Estate Home Pinot Noir was grown on the Home Vineyard located in North Canterbury on a north facing sedimentary clay fan on a gentle hill side slope.
Deep ruby in the glass with perfumed, alluring open and fresh berry fruits, earth, custard and sandalwood on the nose. Supple sensual fruit on the palate with supporting tannin. offering a soft, structural, crisp and mineral experience. Drink now to 2025.
Gorgeous Central Otago Pinot Noir with bright fragrant red cherries and spicy notes in every complex sip. This wine is made by winemaker Jen Parr from hand picked grapes grown on the Black Quail vineyard in Bannockburn. An elegant, bright fruited wine with a silky lithe texture in each sip. The addition of 30% whole bunches of Pinot Noir to the ferment adds structure and weight, spicy flavour notes and depth. The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered which further enhances its structural qualities.
Waimanu Pinot Noir has savoury flavours of freshly picked mushrooms and a firm backbone of fresh acidity and smooth tannins. The grapes in this wine benefit from hot days, cool nights and more than anyone's fair share of wind - as they grow on North Canterbury’s most western vineyard where wind is frequent and harsh, creating a drying environment. Smooth, silky flavours of intensely concentrated ripe cherries and complex earthy spice aromas of cardamon, nutmeg and hints of smoky flavours.
We've sold hundreds of bottles of 2016 Bristol Farm Pinot Noir and now we move onto the gorgeously elegant, lithe and silky textured charms of the 2019.
Central Otago Pinot Noir doesn't come better than this, in terms of silky texture, beautiful bold red fruit flavours and exceptional value for money. Bristol Farm Pinot Noir has been a labour of love for its brand owner, Wayne Condon, a New Zealand-born, Australian based intellectual Pinot lover, who has now decided to remain over the other side of the Tasman. This means the brand is being discontinued, so we have tasted through the range and cherry picked what we think are the absolute stand outs.
This wine is made from Pinot Noir grown on Chinaman’s Terrace Vineyard in Bendigo, one of the warmest sub regions in Central.
