- Lovely off beat Primitivo from Fatalone, a highly respected organically focussed winery in Puglia, southern Italy. Master of WIne Jancis Robinson and wine author Hugh Johnson have featured it in their Wine Atlas. And for good reason.
- Authentic, organic, sustainable are the taglines this winery uses on its website and the wines support the philosophy.
- Primitivo is one of the most popular big reds from southern Italy but this one takes taste to a whole new level. To begin with, it's made from organically certified grapes grown on the rocky slopes of a hillside in the territory of Gioia del Colle, in the locality of Spinomarino. The elevation cools down night temperatures, allowing for a slower ripening and more balanced acidity in the grapes, which are grown on a modern espalier version of the traditional high trained Alberello Pugliese. The grapes are grown along 100% certified organic practices with no irrigation and the result is a big, full bodied dry red from Puglia - the hottest wine growing region on the Italian mainland. It's a stunning wine with power and elegance.
