Denis Race Chablis (6 bottle Case)
Domaine Denis Race is located in the southern outskirts of the Chablis village. The four-generation vineyard, which nestles in the heart of the city, spread over 18 hectares covering the 4 appellations, with parcels of vines aged 2 to 65 years.
The single chardonnay grape variety is grown on clayery-limestone slopes with Kimmeridgian fossiles, which, combined to best sunshine exposition, enables it to reveal its unique character in our first-range Chablis wines. After studying wine growing and wine making, the second daughter Claire has now been working with mum and dad since 2005, and is planning to take on the estate.
This Chardonnay uses no oak, resulting in a focused and linear wine. Steel ageing results in a very pure expression of terroir. The nose is fresh and mineral, with grassy and citrus notes. On the palate there is a textural richness, which is balanced by citrussy acidity and savoury minerality.
Food match: Grilled or poached fish, exotic dishes, sushi, Beaufort, Comté, Emmental and goat’s cheeses.
