All about Subscriptions 

What product options are available?
There are four products to choose from: Gin, Vodka, Rum, Whisky. Each of these products have their own subscription service so if you would like to subscribe to more than one product, you will have to subscribe to each product you are interested in separately.

Do you charge a subscription fee?
If you sign up to one of our standard recurring plans, you will be charged an amount for the 1st box upfront when you first sign up and thereafter, the same amount will be charged each time you are due to receive a box. Amount is dependent on the type of product you subscribe to. We do not charge a joining or cancellation fee.

If you sign up to one of our annual gift subscriptions, you will be required to pay for all boxes up front. The price paid will depend on the amount of boxes you wish to send to your recipient.  

What are the types of subscriptions on offer?
Society Liquor currently offers three types of subscriptions; standard recurring plan, three months gift subscription and annual gift subscription. With both our standard recurring plan & annual gift subscription we offer monthly, bi-monthly and quarterly options. Our three months gift subscription is a monthly option for a total of 3 months.

Our standard recurring plans are pay-per box and you will be charged according to your subscription frequency. For instance, if you are on a quarterly plan for Gin, you will be charged $95 once every three months.  Our standard subscriptions are extremely flexible and can be upgraded /downgraded, paused or cancelled at anytime. We also do not require a contract so you are free to leave whenever you like.

When purchasing a gift subscription, you are required to pay up front for all. After purchase you will be emailed a personalised gift certificate. The membership will automatically expire after the final box has been received and we will email recipients notifying them of this. 

What is the difference between gift subscriptions and standard subscriptions?
All gift subscriptions come with a personalised gift certificate and an automatic end date. When your gift recipient has received their final box, their subscription will be ceased. With standard subscriptions, the plan will continue until you log into your account to make changes to the frequency of the plan or pause the plan or cancel the plan. 

What happens when my gift recipient’s subscription ends?
When your gift recipient has received their final box, they will receive an email notifying them that their gift subscription has ended. We are not able to automatically renew gift subscriptions but the email received will contain details on how to join and the types of subscription plans on offer. 

Can I get a refund for a gift subscription?
Unfortunately, we are not able to refund gift subscriptions after the first box has been received.

What other costs are there?
There are no hidden fees or additional costs. All subscription plan prices include delivery to all New Zealand addresses and there is no charge for making any changes, or pausing/cancelling your recurring subscription plans.

How to make changes to subscriptions?
Any change, pauses/cancellations to recurring subscription plans, amendments to delivery address, updates to email addresses, changes to payment details, can be done by logging into your account and making the change that you would like. 

What is the Calendar and time cut offs for making changes to subscriptions?
Any changes, pauses/cancellations to recurring subscriptions plans need to be made prior to the 1st of every month. The last day of each month is the last day and 11.59pm is the cut-off time on the last day to make any changes to recurring subscriptions. For instance, if you wanted to pause a recurring subscription for the month of April, you will have to do this before 01 April for it to effective. Should you action the pause after 01 April, the pause of subscription will only kick in for the month of May.

How much is delivery?
All subscription plan prices include delivery to all New Zealand addresses.

What comes in the box?
You will receive a bottle of craft liquor, tasting notes, as well as surprise treats that complements the craft liquor. These treats could be anything from chocolates to a small bottle of mixer that can be used with the craft liquor.

Society Liquor always send a 'full-sized' bottle of liquor, but bottle size depends on the distiller. Most craft distillers sell their liquor in 70cl bottles. Some craft distillers sell their liquor in 50cl or 75cl bottles. We normally choose to work with craft distillers that use 70cl bottles. However, if our experts decide that a distiller that sells a 50cl bottle has produced a liquor of exceptional quality, we will send our members a 50cl bottle including extras in the box that make up for the difference in liquid.

When does the box arrive?
Subscription boxes are sent out second week of every month so you should receive your box by the third week of each month.

What do I do if my subscription box and/or gift recipient’s box has not arrived?
In the unlikely event your box or gift recipient’s box has not arrived by the end of the third week of the month and the box is not hidden anywhere around the property or with any neighbours or at the local post shop waiting collection, please enter your tracking code in the tracking page of www.nzpost.co.nz and let us know. We will do our best to locate the box.

All about Payments

What payment options are acceptable?
We accept Visa and Mastercard cards.

Is my payment details and card information safe?
Society Liquor’s website is encrypted using SSL encryption. This means that no data can be intercepted as it goes over the network and safe from outside parties.

Are you GST registered and can I get a GST receipt?
Society Liquor is GST registered and a GST receipt will be sent with every order.

When will payment be taken and how am I charged?
Payment for purchases in our online shop is processed at check out.

Payment for our gift subscription plans is processed at check out.

Payment for your 1st box with any one of our recurring subscription plans is processed at checkout when you first signup. Thereafter, recurring subscription plans payments is processed on the 1st of every month before your box is due to arrive. You are only charged when you are due to receive a box in that month and will be charged on a recurring basis automatically.

What happens when I miss a payment?
If a payment is unsuccessful on the 1st of the month, we will send an email to notify you. We will try to process payment again the following day. If all of our attempts to process payment fail, we will not be able to guarantee you delivery of a box for that particular month.

Depending on your subscription plan frequency, if we are unable to process payments and all of our attempts fail for 2 consecutive cycles then your account will automatically be cancelled. We will do our utmost to contact you and work with you to resolve any issues before cancellation as we do not want any of our members to miss out!

Can I change my payment date for recurring subscription plans?
Unfortunately not – all of our payments process and despatch of boxes run in a fixed cycle every month so we are not able to offer our members different payment dates or delivery dates.

Can I get a refund?
We are unable to give you a refund on any online shop orders boxes or subscription boxes once they have been despatched, unless the box is returned to us unopened or in a resalable condition.

As our subscription boxes are a surprise to all members, we are unable to issue refunds for those that dislike the contents once they have been opened and/or consumed.

Can I return my purchase and/or subscription boxes?
Yes you can, as long as the box is unopened or in a resalable condition.  Please send us an email hello@societyliquor.co.nz and we’ll provide you with all the necessary information.

What are shipping costs for Subscription Plans & Gift Subscriptions?
All subscription plans and gift subscriptions prices include delivery to all New Zealand addresses.

When will my order arrive?
All orders from our online liquor shop should arrive within 3-5 working days North Island and 5-7 working days South Island.

When does my subscription box or gift recipient’s box arrive?
Subscription plan boxes & Gift Subscription boxes are sent out second week of every month so the boxes should be received by the third week of each month.

How do I track my order?
After an order has been despatched, you will receive an email from us with your tracking number and a link to the nz post tracking page. Please check your spam/junk folder as the emails can sometimes end up in these folders.

What happens if I am not at home when my order arrives?
All deliveries are signature required. If you are not at home, Courier Post will leave a completed card with details of attempted delivery and for arrangement to pick up the item or have it re-delivered.

If the item is not collected or no redelivery booking is made within 10days of the first attempted delivery, the item will be returned to us.

What happens if my order is returned to you?
If your order is returned to us, we will drop you an email to confirm your delivery address and we will resend your order as soon as possible.

What do I do if my item is broken or I have an item missing?
Every order is packed with care to ensure they arrive to you full and intact. However, in the unlikely event that your item is broken or you have an item missing, please contact us on hello@societyliquor.co.nz as soon as possible so we can take care of it for you.
