36 Bottles is a boutique producer based in Central Otago, owned by Douglas Brett and Jane Young. The quirky name comes from their first vintage in 1999, when they made wine out of a garage and produced just 36 bottles. Their Riesling is a beautiful pale lime green in the glass and shows lifted citrus, honeysuckle and floral notes that lead to deeper tertiary notes from the time the wine has spent in bottle. The palate has a medium weight; great length and elegant acidity. A great Riesling that punches above its weight and gives an insight into just how good Otago Riesling can be.
Brave Old World is a new series of 8 Wired Beers, historic styles bought back to life in modern New Zealand. This is the fourth beer in this series, a Scotch Ale, inspired by the rich, malty brews that emerged from Scotland in the 1800?s.
This deep amber ale is brewed with a complex malt bill, including plenty of crystal and cara malts and fermented with a British ale yeast. This is a very malt-forward beer, with plenty of caramel sweetness, toffee and raisin.

Brave Old World is a new series of 8 Wired Beers; historic styles brought back to life in modern New Zealand. This is the fifth beer in this series, a Munich Helles Lager, inspired by the classic pale lagers of Germany.
This golden lager is brewed with all German malts, hops and yeast and has been traditionally lagered. Light, with a bread crust-like flavour from the malts, and a delicate lashing of hops for a crisp finish, this is one super delicious, drinkable beer. Prost!

Our Hippy Berliner was such a success that we ebbed to consumer demand and brewed a special edition with the addition of cooling cucumber. Bursting with sweet cucumber notes, balanced by lemon peel and tropical fruits.
On the palate this beer is puckering, but very refreshing, full of cucumber, citrus and balanced by light hopping, finishing very clean.
Cool as a cucumber, dude.

Desperate Glory is a sour brown ale inspired by Flanders Fields. The base beer is Three On A Match, a rich and complex Belgian Amber Ale with notes of dates, brown sugar and sweet spice. This spent a year resting in bourbon barrels to bring out rich oak and vanilla notes alongside a complex, funky tartness. We then carefully blended this with Chinese Keemun tea to add a light floral character with hints of tobacco and unsweetened cocoa.

This complex brown sour beer was inspired by the traditional Oud Bruin styles of West Flanders, Belgium. Aged in a single large oak foudre (vat) for 5 Years, a collection of wild yeast and bacteria go to work, slowly transforming the beer. The result is a unique beer, with a chocolatey-malt base mixed with sherry, leather, tobacco and a hint of smoke. Lactic acid bacteria add a distinct tartness, and Brettanomyces provide that classic wild funk.
