Attractive dark colour with ruby highlights. Tenacious tan head. Truffle / Mushroomy, dried fruit and milk chocolate aromas. Surprisingly tart at first taste, giving way to rich cocoa, prune, dried apricot flavours. Bitterness is well integrated. A well balanced beer with a mouth-coating and silky finish.

sage, grapefruit & herbal notes
For our 51st release in this stellar series, three special hops do some serious melding for one hell of a stellar pour. Talus brings sage & white grapefruit to the table while Cascade shines soft, pink grapefruit & classic floral notes on the mix. Ella backs it all up with tender herbal notes & a thread of liquorice. It's utterly delicious! Tell your customers to drink fresh & be seriously rewarded.

“Lovely balance and freshness to this, showing what Rosso di Montalcino is supposed to be like. Medium body, fine tannins and a fresh, creamy-textured finish.”
— 92 Points, James Suckling
“Cedary spice, dried cherries and crushed rocks form an inviting display as the 2020 Rosso di Montalcino opens in the glass. This is a round and forward effort, with lavender-tinged cherry fruit and bright acidity that adds an energetic feel. Lightly structured yet potent, this finishes with admirable length and class. Drink 2023-2026.”
— 90 points, Eric Guido, Vinous, October 2022
The extra detail to attention in this Brunello is revealed in every velvet smooth sip of this cru wine, which comes from the Montosoli Vineyard, which is five hectares to the north east of Montalcino at an altitude between 350 and 400 metres above sea level. Grapes were fermented and aged separately for the first time after the 1975 harvest. The composition of the soil (marly limestone and siliceous limestone representing the Alberese era with lithoid components dating from the same period), the unique position and particular microclimate contribute to ageing the grapes which produce an extremely complex and elegant wine.
What the critics say
"Concentrated blackberries pervade the nose and palate. Medium to full bodied with well integrated tannins and a balanced finish. Tight and very focused. Classic Brunello for the vintage. Best from 2023."
95 /100 James Suckling
"The Altesino 2017 Brunello di Montalcino is ripe and round with lots of pretty textural richness and juicy fruit flavors. These qualities tie in nicely with the character of the vintage that saw long and hot summer days. Dark fruit, plum and blackcurrant pave the way for savoury spice, tobacco and limestone. The effect is soothing and rich, and the wine remains perfumed and silky to the end. The tannins are well managed in this hot-vintage wine. Fruit is sourced over 25 hectares of vines with tufo soils and alberese rock. Best after 2024."
94/100, Monica Larner, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
If you're a fan of great Pinot Noirs, this Langhe Nebbiolo will tick all the boxes too. Nebbiolo is the greatest red grape variety out of Italy's incredibly diverse array and it comes from Piemonte; the noble region in the north west where cool nights, elevated vineyards and warm days all add up to a long ripening season.
Savoury, silky and full of layers of red fruit, this is an excellent wine, offering a glimpse into the wonderful world of Nebbiolo.
Carefully honed by Production Director John Campbell, this is the first core expression from Lochlea Distillery.
Matured in first-fill Bourbon barrels, Oloroso Sherry casks and STR barriques. Non chill-filtered and Natural Colour.

Created by the Lochlea distillery at the farm once home to Robbie Burns, this new Lowland distillery produces 100% of its whisky from barley grown and harvested on-site. This season small batch release sees 100% ex-bourbon barrels selected from higher up in their warehouses, with the faster maturation apparent. A juicy red apple and ripe pear fruit is followed by flavours of vanilla pod and almond oil, with a crisp and refreshing pine forest note in the background. An exciting new release from the family at Lochlea.
